Paying for a Rashi Education

This year, families new to day school who have a child entering kindergarten have two options to assist them in paying for a Rashi education:

Families may participate in one of the above programs. We encourage families to apply for both and select the program that offers more assistance.

Financial Aid

Rashi is committed to having a socioeconomically diverse student population. When granting financial aid, the school considers the impact on enrollment and the balance and diversity of the classes as well as the financial sustainability of the school. Rashi grants financial aid to about 30% of the student enrollment and total awards of about $1.3 million. The funding for these grants comes directly from the school's budget, funds raised by the Development Office, and individual gifts and grants designated specifically for financial aid.

To assist in making objective decisions about financial aid, Rashi uses School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS), a comprehensive financial aid management service approved and promoted by the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS). Led by school-based experts, SSS provides expert financial aid methodology and deep knowledge resources.

Financial aid grants are awarded on the basis of demonstrated financial need. Establishing demonstrated need takes many factors into consideration, including, but not limited to, the:

  • Incomes of both parents (taxable and non-taxable)
  • Assets held by the family
  • Number of dependents
  • Number of children attending tuition-charging schools
  • Age of both parents

In cases where parents are not living together, the resources of both the non-custodial and the custodial parent will be considered in establishing the family’s level of need. Discretionary expenses, such as those related to a business venture or lifestyle, are not considered as part of the financial aid process.

Renewal is not automatic, applications are required each year.
Families requesting assistance must be current in their payments to the school and must file complete applications and final tax returns by the deadline. The school may request additional information including but not limited to bank, mortgage, and credit card statements as well as tuition bills for other schools.
