Head of school search

The Rashi School, Greater Boston’s Reform Jewish independent school for Grades PK-8, is seeking a new head of school for July 2024. This is an extraordinary opportunity for a talented educational leader to build on strength and to further the mission of a thriving school that seeks to grow its leadership in the Boston area and beyond.

Dear Rashi Community,

The Rashi School Board of Trustees is excited to announce that it has unanimously voted to appoint Emily Charton as Rashi’s next Head of School, effective July 1, 2024. We believe Emily brings a unique combination of personal skills and professional experience that will carry our school to new heights.

Emily exemplifies several key attributes that our Board believes are critical for our next Head of School to possess. Emily is known for her relational leadership style. A colleague shared that “Emily brings a whole school perspective and is an engaged leader who connects deeply with staff and parents.” She has a reputation as a strong and effective communicator. She was described by references as decisive, collaborative, analytical and declarative, when necessary, in her decision making capabilities. In addition, her ability to inspire faculty, staff, and students was described as unparalleled. Emily’s deep knowledge of and experience in K-8 schools, including pedagogy, curriculum, and leadership in teaching and learning, position Emily especially well to propel Rashi into an incredibly bright future.
