Alumna Publishes Collection of Feminist Essays

Alumni Updates
This Rashi Alumna collected feminist essays from 20 high school students to publish Young & Feminist, whose proceeds will support Planned Parenthood.
From Abby R. (Rashi '14)

"Starting in April, I recruited 20 high school students to write personal essays on topics related to feminism. After months of these writers brainstorming, writing, and revising, we compiled their essays into a book, Young & Feminist. Their powerful pieces are on topics including rape culture, mothers in the workforce, genderqueer pronouns, body confidence, and the intersections between racism, Islamophobia, and misogyny (and much more).

"We will be selling copies of the book for $10 each with the proceeds donated to Planned Parenthood! PP is a feminist organization with an extremely important mission of reproductive and sexual health services. They currently face dramatic defunding and budget cuts under the right-wing Trump administration, so it is now especially crucial that we support and protect them.

"The goal of this project is to raise as much money for PP as we possibly can, while also elevating voices of teen activists. We have all worked incredibly hard on this book, and you can read everyone’s beautiful and important essays STARTING TODAY by buying a copy! Click on the link below to order from Amazon, or reach out to me if you’d like to purchase one directly from me."
