The 2018 Annual Dinner: What to Expect

Will you join us at our Annual Dinner on Wednesday, May 16? Here's what to expect.
The Rashi community will come out in force for the 2018 Annual Dinner, which will take place on Wednesday, May 16.  This year the event, which annually attracts approximately 500 participants, will move to the Boston Marriott Newton.  All segments of the Rashi community – current parents, alumni, alumni parents, grandparents, community leaders and more – will gather to celebrate how Rashi’s has inspired all of us for more than 32 years.

At the event alumni parents Heidi and Lew Pearlson will receive the Kehillah Award in recognition of their decades of volunteer work and leadership at Rashi; Liza Comart ‘06 will receive the Tikkun Alum Award for demonstrating the values of social justice inherent in a Rashi education in her current work; and the program will also include remarks from outgoing CJP President Barry Shrage.  However, the stars of the evening will undoubtedly be our eighth-grade graduating class, who will be represented by six classmates during the program.

The keynote speeches this year will be delivered by eighth graders Jeremy G. and Leah K.  Jeremy’s remarks will focus on the importance of learning about contemporary Israel as part of the 8th Grade Israel Trip, while Leah will focus on the centrality of religion and community in Jewish education.

In addition, their classmates Estelle F. will introduce Barry Shrage, while Danielle F. will introduce the Tikkun Alum Award ceremony.  This will be followed by a special musical interlude featuring Tal Chafetz ‘15, alumni parent Jodi Blankstein, and current parent Adam Dehner, that was produced especially for the evening and will be introduced by eighth graders Maris B. and Henry N.
