A Few Words from Bud
Life Changing Things Happen Here Every Day
Kudos and thank you to Rabbi Sharon Clevenger, the teachers and 8th grade students who have spent an amazing week hosting 25 Israeli students from the Leo Baeck School in Haifa. In turn, the Leo Baeck families and school will host our 8th grade when they travel to Israel in March.
Over and over again, I have heard from alumni families about what a profound, memorable, and life-changing experience this is. A major goal of our school is to help students have the ability to step into the shoes of another and see the world from a different perspective. There is nothing more important to help nurture this learning than spending time with people who live in another part of the world.
Cross-cultural competency is an important skill to develop in this age of global citizenship. And how wonderful for our children to get to know Jews from Israel – deepening their own understanding of what is means to be a Jew in the 21st century. Every Jewish child should have this opportunity. For me, the Leo Baeck connection is one of the true highlights of a Rashi education. Every day, I witness great things going on at Rashi. Our children are blessed to have such an enriched curriculum and such passionate teachers.
