The Rashi School Appoints Next Head of School
The Rashi School Board of Trustees has unanimously voted to appoint Mr. Adam W. Fischer as Rashi’s next Head of School effective July 1, 2019.
“From the moment I was introduced to The Rashi School, its living values, significant mission, and vibrant community, I felt a strong connection to the warmth, commitment, and spirit of the school. Educating children in mind, body, and spirit is a journey that this community makes together. I am confident that, together, we will inspire Rashi students to reach for their fullest potential as they grow and learn here.”
Rashi’s search for a head of school was conducted by a dedicated team of trustees, parents and community members, and with the help of consultants from Resource Group 175.
Fischer comes to Rashi with a breadth of experience. He is currently the Director of Education Innovation & Research at Kent School in Kent, CT where he is responsible for sourcing the most innovative practices in education today. His work includes visiting exceptional K-12 schools across the country to witness and learn new educational processes and paradigms. Mr. Fischer previously served as the Director of Academic Advancement and Director of Parent Initiatives at Kent where he dramatically increased annual giving and created partnerships with outside organizations to support and enrich academic programs. He held the position of Chief Information Officer for 11 years during which he oversaw the largest group of academic staff on campus and built an Educational Technology program that gained national recognition. During his 20 years at Kent, he was also a teacher, the Department Head responsible for general studies courses, Head of Library & Academic Resources, and Director of Communications.
Fischer earned a BA in English from Columbia University and a Masters in Independent School Leadership from the prestigious Klingenstein Institute at Columbia University. He is a guest lecturer at the Klingenstein Center, has served on multiple accrediting committees for the New England Association of Schools and Colleges and has been a presenter at many national and well-known educational conferences. He is the Co-Chair of the Greater Hartford Region of Columbia University – Alumni Representative Committee, a Board member of the Connecticut Chapter of GLSEN, and serves as a local commissioner and volunteer in his town.
“Adam Fischer is a seasoned educator and administrator known as a thought leader in driving educational innovation in schools, a collaborative leader of faculty and administrative teams, and creator of programs that have enhanced academic and institutional excellence within his school,” says Board of Trustees President Rebecca Burack. “His vision of education and lifelong commitment to excellence is strongly aligned with Rashi’s mission and values.
