It is important to share some reminders about these visits and our process going forward:

  1. Everyone who meets with a candidate will be invited for an open period of 24 hours after a visit to give impressions and feedback on that candidate via SurveyMonkey. That input will be immensely important to the Search Committee. Having said that, please remember that the Search Committee will have had access to many other sources and references about candidates in order to make their recommendation to the Board of Trustees. The survey is quite valuable, but the Search Committee is charged with making the best possible decision for the future of Rashi based upon many sources and dutiful research.

  2. Candidates for headship are understandably concerned for their confidentiality and privacy, especially in this day and age of instant Internet communication. Accordingly, once names of candidates are made public, please do not conduct your own search and contact people whom you may know in the candidates' schools and communities. You need to trust that the Search Committee will do that well and thoroughly. Remember that two of the three finalists must return to the communities from whence they came and we want that to happen with a sense of admiration and respect for how they were treated while in our midst.

  3. Candidate resumes and a short bio will be posted on the Rashi website in the Head of School Search section roughly 24 hours before each candidate visit. They will come down again roughly 24 hours after each visit. This is also out of respect for candidate confidentiality and privacy.

  4. While we certainly want to know and understand our candidates well while they are with us, we also need to remember that they are assessing us: deciding whether both Greater Boston and Rashi are places to which they want to commit. We need to be both sincerely inquisitive and welcoming, in the finest spirit of Rashi's core values. The spouses and partners of the candidates will also be with us for part of the time in these visits - it is always a family decision to move!

  • Candidate 1: Adam Tilove

Adam Tilove’s career as an education professional began as a grade school teacher in Brooklyn. After two years at PS 183 in Brooklyn, Tilove moved to his first of many Jewish day schools, teaching both secular and Judaic studies at Hannah Senesh Community Day School in Brooklyn and then at Rodeph Sholom School in NYC.

Tilove jumped at the opportunity to serve as Head of School at Jewish Community Day School of Rhode Island. “They took a chance on me, and I did well,” he explained in interviews with the Search Committee.
