Go, Robot, Go!

Rachel Liptz, Kindergarten Assistant Teacher
Rashi's Kindergarteners get their first taste of building and programming robots.
Our motors are warmed up for Robotics! Over the past several lessons, the Kindergartners have learned about programming. Last week, we witnessed a robot in action and noticed that it followed the same sequence of commands repeatedly. This week, using programming blocks for a software called Kiwi, students created programs that included commands like "Forward/Backwards", "Turn this way", "Spin", and "Sing".  They acted out being robots, following their friends' programs.

Once the children were familiar with programming, we switched over to a slightly more complicated program called WeDo.  This program is designed to be used with motors and legos that our students will turn into robots!
