More than 300 grandparents and special friends gathered at Rashi on Friday, October 25 to share an afternoon highlighted by a luncheon, meaningful classroom visits with students, and joyful Kabbalat Shabbat services.
Upon their arrival, guests were greeted by Middle School Ambassadors and then enjoyed a luncheon where Head of School Adam W. Fischer delivered a warm welcome. After the entire second grade led us in the Motzi (blessing before the meal), we heard remarks from Rashi Student Government Vice-Presidents Teddy F. and Harper R.
During the luncheon, three of our event co-chairs Jon Dixon, Philip Wiener, and Peter Dixon spoke about how academic excellence is of utmost importance, as well as the entire Rashi community. The fact Rashi marries both Jewish values and social justice with its rigorous academic program, is what truly makes the school so exceptional.
Following lunch, our guests joined students in their classrooms to experience the learning process in action in subjects ranging from Art to Jewish Studies to Science.
And, as we do on every Friday afternoon, students and their visitors attended Kabbalat Shabbat services. In our Lower School Kabbalat Shabbat, our guests were treated a dance performance routine by our Israeli dance troop, Kesem Katan!
It was hard to say who enjoyed the day more, the kids or the grandparents!
