לדור ודור (L’dor V’dor) | From Generation to Generation

Grandparents have a powerful impact on the lives of their grandchildren, and as a Rashi Grandparent, you are a very special member of our kehillah (community). If you live nearby, we hope that you will visit often for our weekly Kabbalat Shabbat as well as for plays, concerts and other special programs, such as the annual science fair and Tamchui assemblies. If you haven’t seen the school, we would be delighted to give you a tour.

Generations Day

An annual tradition during which we welcome grandparents and special friends to share the Rashi experience with our students. The day features a luncheon program, an opportunity for classroom visits and concludes with a special Kabbalat Shabbat.

About The Sheldon A. Cohen Grandparent Association

Our Sheldon A. Cohen Grandparents Association serves to enhance grandparent participation in special events, volunteer opportunities, and fundraising. We encourage you to get involved as you can. We welcome all suggestions from grandparents and hope to hear from you!

About Sheldon A. Cohen

Sheldon A. Cohen z”l was very committed to The Rashi School and founded the Grandparents Association when his grandson, Alexander, was in first grade. Sheldon wanted to create an opportunity for grandparents to be a part of the Rashi community. Sheldon’s vision was that every Rashi grandparent, near or far, could be a part of their grandchild’s Rashi experience.

Sheldon could often be found in Alexander’s classroom, participating in Kabbalat Shabbat, and always talking to his friends about Rashi. Sheldon also served on the Board of Directors of the school, as well as on many committees.

The Rashi Grandparents Association is Sheldon’s legacy. The Association was named in his memory following his passing in 2002.
