The Rashi School is a Pre-Kindergarten – Grade 8, all-gender independent school affiliated with the Reform Movement of Judaism. We are located on a 162-acre, multi-generational campus near the Charles River in Dedham, Massachusetts. We offer an academically challenging and enriching education to 250 students in an environment infused with Jewish values.

Rashi faculty are student-focused and mission-driven. There is a culture of collegiality, collaboration, and professional growth. After School Staff 2024-2025

The Rashi School, Greater Boston’s Reform Jewish Independent School, serving students in grades Pre-K-8 seeks After School staff for the 2024-2025 school year. After School personnel are responsible for ensuring the safety of all children in the program while interacting with students and their families, and creating an enriching, fun, and secure environment.

Working independently and as a team, After School staff work with small groups of students in various after school activities, including:

  • Creative Works Program (creative arts, building, design, etc.)
  • Organized Sports & Games 
  • Open Choice Stations
  • Homework Monitoring

After School Staff earn between $20-$25/hour depending on level of education and experience. Available shifts are either 2:45-4:30 PM (Monday-Thursday), or 2:45-6:00 PM (Monday-Thursday).

Substitute School Nurse 2024-2025

JOB SUMMARY

The Rashi School, the Boston Area’s Reform Jewish Independent School, serving students in grades Pre-K-8 seeks a Substitute School Nurses for the 2024-2025 school year. Reporting to the Assistant Head of School for Academic Operations, the Substitute School Nurse is responsible for the operation of the Health Office. Substitute nurses are compensated at $240/day.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assess and provide medcare to ill and injured students, faculty, and staff within scope of practice. 
  • Assist individuals with specialized health care needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality, document and notify parents/ guardians, and/or Emergency Medical Services (EMS) as necessary.
  • Remain with and give comfort to ill or injured students until released to the parent/guardian.
  • Observe and report any unusual behavioral finding or unsafe student activity to school administrators. 
  • Assume the responsibilities of a Massachusetts Mandated Reporter.
  • Administer all medications according to the MDPH, physician, and parent instructions.  
  • Maintain a clean, orderly and safe health office.  Dispose of biomedical waste and hazards according to established protocol. 
  • Maintain confidential student health records and accident reports including treatment records/logs, emergency information, immunization records, disability, allergy information, and hearing/vision screening results.
  • Receive and review new student health files.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree from an accredited nursing program.
  • Current valid MA State License as a Registered Nurse.
  • Minimum of one year of medical/clinical experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • Knowledge of state and federal health and safety regulations.
  • Current BLS/CPR/AED/ First Aid Certificate issued by an authorized agency and renewed as necessary.
  • Prior experience in school or camp serving students in Grades PK-8 is strongly preferred.

Learning Specialist (Fall 2024)

JOB SUMMARY:

The Rashi School, Greater Boston’s Reform Jewish Independent School, serving students in grades Pre-K-8 seeks a Learning Specialist for the 2024-2025 school year. Reporting to the Director of Student Support, the Learning Specialist will work with students and teachers in the Upper Elementary and Middle School grades to support and challenge all learners, promote independence, and ensure a smooth transition from Lower School to Middle School. A major focus of this position is the development of executive functioning skills to empower students for academic and personal success.

RESPONSIBLITIES

Individualized Student Support:

  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other specialists to support students on learning plans.
  • Provide direct, individualized support to students based on their unique learning needs, focusing on academic, social, and emotional growth.
  • Implement evidence-based strategies and interventions to address learning challenges and promote skill development.

Teacher Coaching:

  • Work closely with teachers to develop and implement differentiated instructional strategies tailored to diverse learning styles and needs within the classroom.
  • Support faculty in integrating executive functioning skill development into each content area and support systems to empower students for success in both academic and life pursuits.

Transition Support:

  • Collaborate with Grade 5 and middle school staff to ensure continuity of support and a smooth adjustment for students entering the middle school environment.
  • Provide direct support and instruction to both grades tailored to help prepare them and be successful socially, academically, and emotionally, as they move to middle school.

Executive Functioning and Academic Skill Development:

  • Teach a grade 6 class intended to enhance executive functioning skills such as organization, time management, planning, metacognition, and goal-setting.
  • Support small groups of identified learners who need specific academic support as per their learning plans.

Data Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • Regularly assess the progress of students on learning plans and adjust interventions accordingly.
  • Collect and analyze data to measure the effectiveness of support programs and interventions.
  • Lead Grade Level student meetings for students on caseload.
  • Stay up to date with current performance levels of students on caseload and be prepared to report on those levels. 
  • Coordinate paperwork with outside evaluations.

RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Follow the instructional guide and class expectations outlined in teachers’ lesson plans when covering classes primarily in Grades 5-8.
  • Contribute to a positive and safe learning environment and respond to the individual needs of students.
  • Follow a schedule set by the Assistant Heads of School to support teachers and students in Grades 5-8 on days that no additional coverage is needed. 
  • Participate in Minyan, Kabbalat Shabbat (worship services), and other events, assemblies, and celebrations.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned to the absent teacher on that day (lunch, recess, etc.)
  • Clean teaching area at the end of the day. Put all equipment and materials away.

  • Collaborate with other department members to develop curricula.
  • Prepare, administer, and grade assessments and assignments to evaluate students’ progress.
  • Collaborate with other faculty to teach students about Jewish holidays and plan and implement celebrations for grade levels and the full school.

  • Participate in Tefillah (prayer) and Kabbalat Shabbat (Friday afternoon religious services).

Song Leader (Fall 2024)

We seek a collaborative and dynamic song leader to advance the work of Jewish education for the school, namely to help students develop a deep and lifelong love of Judaism and Israel, and a sense of pride in their identities as Jews. This individual would work closely with the service leaders to create warm, uplifting and joyful student worship experiences.

We seek candidates who are well versed in Reform Jewish practice and/or comfortable in a liberal Jewish environment where students will come from a diverse spectrum of Jewish practice. Candidates must be experienced song leaders who play the guitar, who are familiar with and/or capable of learning our current repertoire. Candidates should also remain current on new Jewish music and melodies so that they can help us expand our collection of music as well.

This is a part-time position for $50-$60/hour.  Worship happens on Mondays and Thursdays between 8:15-1:20 PM and on Fridays between 2:00-3:00 PM. There is a possibility of an additional 30 minutes on Monday to teach music to our Pre-K students. Ideal candidates who can be at Rashi for all of those times, but we can be flexible for the right candidate.
