The Rashi School is a Pre-Kindergarten – Grade 8, all-gender independent school affiliated with the Reform Movement of Judaism. We are located on a 162-acre, multi-generational campus near the Charles River in Dedham, Massachusetts. We offer an academically challenging and enriching education to 250 students in an environment infused with Jewish values.

Main Office Coordinator (Fall 2026)

The Rashi School, Greater Boston’s Reform Jewish Independent School, serving students in grades Pre-K-8 seeks a Main Office Coordinator for the 2026-2027 school year. Reporting to the Assistant Head of School for Academic Operations and Culture, the Main Office Coordinator will be a key member in the day to day operations of the school. Rashi’s Middle School seeks to promote students’ academic, social, and emotional growth by nurturing an environment that promotes risk taking, flexibility, adaptability, empathy, and resilience. We are looking for educators with a history of positive, caring student-teacher interactions, rich content expertise, and student-centered approaches to join a team of exceptional faculty who utilize a strength based approach to empower students to be their best selves in and out of the classroom. This is an 11 month position with a salary range of $25.00-$28.00/hour. Hours are 7:30 AM-3:30PM Monday-Friday. Benefits include generous time off, medical, dental and vision insurance, an opportunity to participate in the 403B plan, and free lunch daily. The preferred start date is August 3, 2026.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Main Office Coordination

  • Provide reception coverage – greeting visitors, answering phones, getting messages to teachers, etc.
  • Maintain inventory of main office supplies
  • Manage photocopiers and arrange for service
  • Distribute mail to faculty/staff mailboxes
  • Act as point person for master student list in event of emergency evacuation and/or lock down
  • Support the school’s facility reservation system, ensuring classrooms, conference rooms, and multipurpose spaces are booked accurately to prevent scheduling conflicts.

Transportation Support

  • Coordinate school transportation logistics, including communication with bus vendors and route management, for both daily routes and field trips
  • Maintain transportation rosters and communicate transportation information to families
  • Manage daily bus attendance lists 
  • Assist Controller with transportation billing and operational logistics

Academic Program Support

  • Manage attendance reporting through Veracross
  • Radio deans to assist classrooms when needed
  • Track cellphones left in the main office due to a forgotten Yondr Pouch
  • Create reports as requested by authorized personnel such as schedules, class lists, faculty/staff directories, progress reports, and the Family Directory
  • Provide administrative assistance to classrooms, faculty, and Assistant Heads of School including advanced copying and collating of material
  • Provide administrative support for major academic and school events, including Staff Days, Professional Days, School Pictures, Back to School Night, Parent/Teacher Conferences, Family Education, Tribes, Drama Performances, ERBs, and Graduation
  • Create labels, student name tags, and playbills
  • Respond to district inquires for title grants
  • Provide school attending data reports to superintendents who request them
  • Order ERB testing materials

Early Literacy Interventionist (PK-Grade 2)

RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Deliver specialized tutoring in one-to-one and small group sessions for students identified as at risk
  • Conduct assessments of student literacy skills, including phonological awareness, letter knowledge, concepts about print, and comprehension strategies
  • Implement “best practices” instructional methods, specifically utilizing Fundations, Heggerty, and other evidence based literacy programs
  • Collaborate with other members of the Learning Team and the Humanities Department Chair to align interventions with school-wide literacy goals
  • Assist classroom teachers in providing differentiated small-group instruction tailored to specific student learning needs
  • Provide targeted instruction in auditory discrimination, rhyming, word/syllable segmentation, and the application of decoding and encoding strategies
  • Maintain accurate data and records on student progress and academic benchmarks to monitor the effectiveness of interventions
  • Communicate regularly with families about student progress
  • Share progress data with the grade level team and members of the Learning Team
  • Attend weekly grade-level team meetings and faculty meetings on Wednesdays after school

Theater Arts Specialist (.6 FTE)

JOB SUMMARY:

The Rashi School, Greater Boston’s Reform Jewish Independent School, serving students in grades Pre-K-8 seeks a Theater Arts Specialist (.6 FTE) for the 2026-2027 school year. Reporting to the Assistant Head of School for Academic Operations and Culture, the Theater Arts Specialist will work collaboratively on all aspects of the program with the full-time Theater Director. Hours are typically 24 hours per week Monday through Thursday with required times for after school rehearsals Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday and performances.

  • Provide After School instruction on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday afternoons
  • Cast Lower and Middle School productions in collaboration with the Theater Director
  • Design and implement a Middle School Elective each trimester
  • In collaboration with the Theater Director, determine the necessary technical support, such as lighting, audio, staging, and special needs, necessary for events and performances presented at the facilities (and at times other spaces) in advance of production dates
  • Provide technical support for school performances, productions, and presentations as needed
  • Supervise and assist with set and stage construction and management as necessary, in conjunction with the Theater Director
  • Support and instruct student and volunteer technical staff for individual shows
  • Support students with public speaking in preparation of public facing events
  • Support students with script writing for grade level plays and performances in Grades 3-6
  • Support the Theater Director with choreography and music direction of grade level productions and musicals
  • Strike and load-out after performances
  • Share duties as assigned by Assistant Heads of School

Reporting to the Assistant Head of School for Academic Operations and Culture, the Permanent Substitute Teacher will cover classes for planned and unplanned absences, primarily in Grades 3-5. This is a full-time position with a first year salary of $35,000. There are opportunities to supplement income in Rashi’s After School Program.

  • Support students in accessing assignments and notes from teachers on Google Classroom. 
  • Contribute to a positive and safe learning environment and respond to the individual needs of students.
  • Follow a schedule set by the Assistant Heads of School to support teachers and students in Grades 3-5 on days that no additional coverage is needed. 
  • Participate in Minyan, Kabbalat Shabbat (worship services), and other events, assemblies, and celebrations.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned to the absent teacher on that day (lunch, recess, etc.)
  • Clean teaching area at the end of the day. Put all equipment and materials away.

Social Justice Coordinator (Fall 2026)

The Rashi School, the Boston Area’s Reform Jewish Independent School, serving students in grades Pre-K-8, seeks a Social Justice Coordinator for the 2026-2027 school year. Rashi’s social justice program was founded nearly thirty years ago, and social justice is a cornerstone of a Rashi education. The most recent Social Justice Coordinator revamped the program in many exciting ways, including revising the mission of social justice education at Rashi. Her departure offers the incredible opportunity to continue in the creation of a future vision of Social Justice at Rashi. Reporting to the Director of Jewish Learning and Life, the Social Justice Coordinator has responsibilities both in and out of the classroom.

From the founding of the Rashi School, Rashi’s mission has always put tzedek, justice, and tikkun olam, repairing the world, at our core.   • Support individual and small group student initiatives by mentoring them, and helping them bring their ideas to fruition. 
  • Communicate with families in positive and professional ways including email, phone calls, meetings, and parent-teacher conferences.
  • Attend relevant meetings during the school day and faculty meetings on Wednesdays after school.
  • Share duties (recess, lunch, etc.) and participate in other aspects of school life set by school leadership.
  • Coordinate community wide service opportunities. 
  • Plan and implement Middle School Social Justice days. 
  • Lead the Mitzvah Makers program, and intergenerational service learning opportunity for students in Grades 2-5, in partnership with the Newbridge on the Charles Hebrew Senior Life staff. 
  • Participate in an intergenerational Middle School program where students work with patients dealing with Alzheimer’s and dementia. 
  • Lead Rashi’s annual all school Social Justice project, Tamchui, highlighting non-profit organizations and their work for students across the grades.
  • Advocate for social justice throughout the school and broader school community.
  • Collaborate with appropriate faculty to network, building and maintaining partnerships with community organizations, activists, and educators to enhance the impact of social justice initiatives.
  • Assess and evaluate the effectiveness of social justice programs and initiatives, making adjustments as needed to meet objectives.

We are looking for educators with a history of positive, caring student-teacher interactions, rich content expertise, and student-centered approaches to join a team of exceptional faculty who utilize a strength based approach to empower students to be their best selves in and out of the classroom. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follow the instructional guide and class expectations outlined in teachers’ lesson plans.
  • Create and maintain a positive learning environment in the classroom.
  • Keep a daily log about the progress of the day and leave it for the regular teacher
  • Clean teaching area at the end of the day – put all equipment and materials away. If it is the usual daily practice, have students place chairs on the desks.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned to the absent teacher on that day (lunch, recess, etc.)
  • Be familiar with fire exits, fire drill procedures, and safety procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. 
  • Previous experience working with children in a school setting is preferred.

COMPENSATION:

  • Substitute teachers are considered W-2 employees.  A suitable background check including FBI fingerprinting, a completed Form I-9, Form W-4, and other documents are required.  
  • Short term substitute teachers are paid $150 per day in gross wages for days worked  ($75 per half day).  
  • Substitute teachers are paid by direct deposit on the 15th day and the last day of the month (or the previous weekday if payday falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or Federal holiday).

Substitute School Nurse 2025-2026

JOB SUMMARY

The Rashi School, the Boston Area’s Reform Jewish Independent School, serving students in grades Pre-K-8 seeks a Substitute School Nurses for the 2024-2025 school year. Reporting to the Assistant Head of School for Academic Operations, the Substitute School Nurse is responsible for the operation of the Health Office. Substitute nurses are compensated at $240/day.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assess and provide medcare to ill and injured students, faculty, and staff within scope of practice. 
  • Assist individuals with specialized health care needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality, document and notify parents/ guardians, and/or Emergency Medical Services (EMS) as necessary.
  • Remain with and give comfort to ill or injured students until released to the parent/guardian.
  • Observe and report any unusual behavioral finding or unsafe student activity to school administrators. 
  • Assume the responsibilities of a Massachusetts Mandated Reporter.
  • Administer all medications according to the MDPH, physician, and parent instructions.  
  • Maintain a clean, orderly and safe health office.  Dispose of biomedical waste and hazards according to established protocol. 
  • Maintain confidential student health records and accident reports including treatment records/logs, emergency information, immunization records, disability, allergy information, and hearing/vision screening results.
  • Receive and review new student health files.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree from an accredited nursing program.
  • Current valid MA State License as a Registered Nurse.
  • Minimum of one year of medical/clinical experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • Knowledge of state and federal health and safety regulations.
  • Current BLS/CPR/AED/ First Aid Certificate issued by an authorized agency and renewed as necessary.
  • Prior experience in school or camp serving students in Grades PK-8 is strongly preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Able to sit, stand, bend, and walk for extended periods.
  • Able to push/pull a wheelchair. 
  • Able to lift 50 lbs (able to lift a middle-school aged child).
