Morning Mitzvah—Filling Backpacks for Children in Need

by | Sep 1, 2022 | Community, Our Stories, Social Justice

The Rashi community got a head-start in coming together for the 2022-23 school year. On Sunday, August 28, faculty and staff, students, parents and alumni gathered at the school to fill backpacks with school supplies for children in need. Partnering with JFS of Metrowest for the 11th year, Rashi’s student council president Emily M., along with MS Dean of Students Joni Fishman, and Social Justice Director Stephanie Rotsky, organized an incredible morning of mitzvah-making.

Over 100 backpacks were filled thanks to the combined efforts of the organizers and participants, continuing the success of this event for over a decade. For Emily, this was her first large-scale event completed as Rashi Middle School student leadership.

We’d like to thank everyone who joined us in making this event an incredible success. With the Rashi kehillah (community), every day is a great day for a mitzvah!
