One of the most critical issues of our lives is climate change.  How we respond to this challenge will determine the world that our children will grow up in. I can think of few topics more important for children to learn about than climate change. Given this, we have decided to devote Yom Ha’atzmaut (Israel Independence Day) to helping kids understand the core scientific principles involved and most importantly, what we each can do to help heal the earth. As a school, we are committed to doing a better job of integrating environmental education into our curriculum.

Below, please find a great article from the Washington Post on how families can lean into climate change conversations and actions together. One key is to not scare kids and leave them feeling hopeless and helpless. Kids need to feel empowered to make a difference. If we all rethink our habits, we can turn this big ship around. I’d love to hear about how your family approaches these conversations and seeks to build a healthier earth.
